Gary Fight Against Esophagus Cancer

Donation protected

My name is Shannon, and I have created this GoFundMe to help my dad who was just diagnosed with cancer.

My dads name is Gary. He is 63 years old, and was just diagnosed with esophageal cancer on 5/17/19. My dad is my best friend... He has always been there- for everyone- throughout his entire life.

He has gone through many trials and tribulations with his health... and so far has overcome everything! My dad's proved he's a fighter... but nothing compares to cancer, and now we need your help.

Unfortunately, he's no longer able to work due to his illness He just had to leave the job he's held for more than 12 years. Our initial goal is to just make it through the next 3 months. Our GoFundMe goal of $15,000 covers (most importantly!) his life-saving alternative therapies. They are proven to work, and they will absolutely give him the best shot at beating this, but they are expensive. Details below. We also need to cover his basic living expenses (mortgage, utilities, etc.) so he can focus on fighting this.

Ways you can help my dad!

1- Donate to his Gofundme! Every dollar helps - seriously. People say that because it's true! EVERY dollar goes toward a bottle of CBD, or a syringe of RSO, or an electric payment. Every dollar makes a HUGE difference. Please donate with our SINCERE thank you. You are truly making a difference for my dad.
2- Share his story on your social media profiles, with friends and family, co-workers... anyone you can!
3- Purchase one of his alternative therapies! We are going to go through a TON, and we are so grateful to those wanting to lift this financial burden. Please email me at [email redacted] for info! Thank you!
4- Join our meal train. The location of his tumors are causing him pain/discomfort while eating. We've started juicing fruits and veggies for optimal nutrition, but we're also exploring other foods that are less troublesome to swallow. This meal train will be up and running shortly and we SO appreciate your support in this way!

A little bit of history on my dad, and his challenges he has faced and overcome like a champion!

In May 2002 my dad was diagnosed with Hepatitis C. He was given a 40% chance of survival, which required him to go on an -at the time- experimental medication. Thankfully after a very long year of treatments- that made him very sick- he beat Hep C!! During that time he was also laid off from his position of over 10 years at K-Mart... Their franchises were going bankrupt and my dad, amongst 100’s of other employees lost their jobs- and livelihood. It was not only a terrible time for my dad health wise, but financially as well.

Soon after beating Hepatitis C, in February 2005 my dad was diagnosed with Achalasia. Achalasia is a very rare swallowing disorder which caused my dad's esophagus to shrink down to the width of a number 2 pencil! He was LITERALLY starving to death. He underwent a major surgery in hopes of stretching his esophagus and allowing him to eat, drink, and swallow properly again. This surgery was very risky, but yet again, my dad being the fighter he is, he made it through the surgery and was able to eat and drink practically normal again!

Fast forward to December 2017... My dad became very ill on Christmas Eve, and thought he had caught the flu. 3 days later we took him to the emergency room and it turned out he had double pneumonia and atrial defibrillation. He was then admitted to the hospital for 7 days. His pneumonia was so severe they nearly had to place chest tubes in order to drain his lungs of the fluid which was starting to put pressure on his heart, causing the irregular heart beat.

Thankfully my dad fully recovered from his pneumonia and A-fib, and came home with some oxygen support for a few weeks, and was told to follow up with his primary care doctor closely. He followed those instructions to a T. In the last year he has had multiple appointments with his cardiologist to monitor his heart, as well as many scans of his lungs, and chest! All of his tests have come back great!

Just a few months ago in March 2019 my dad went to the ER with chest pains. We all were so scared that something was going on with his heart, and wanted to be proactive! We left the hospital with a diagnoses of a bleeding ulcer, and he was given medication and told to follow up with his PC doctor. Which you guessed it! He followed those instructions and made an appointment, and was seen a week later, where they then scheduled an upper endoscopy. He stayed on the anti-acid medications with no relief from the pain or discomfort; and it increasingly got harder for him to eat.

We finally made the decision to call his primary care doctor back and let her know my dad needed to be seen sooner then his scheduled endoscopy appointment on May 29th.

He was seen by his doctor on Thursday, May 16th, where she looked him over. With in a few minutes of speaking with my dad and completing her exam she stepped out of the room, and came back and told my dad he needed to go for the endoscopy RIGHT AWAY. Unfortunately she couldn’t get him an appointment until the following morning, but it was still handled quickly.

My dad went for his endoscopy on Friday, May 17th and found out after waking from his procedure that he has esophageal cancer... The doctors took biopsies of his tumors; he has 2 in his esophagus. We are awaiting to get the results back from that to determine what stage cancer he has, as well as what his treatment plan is going to be moving forward. It is certain he will undergo radiation, chemotherapy, and possibly surgery as long as the other treatments do their jobs. We have also started him on alternative therapies to help combat his cancer head on!

My dad is a fighter.

But he's had to fight so hard and so long for his health, that now we need your help.

Anyone who's had a loved one with cancer knows the stress this places on them There are so few ways to help someone through the battle, but financially IS one way you can help. Please consider donating to help lift the financial aspect of this burden so my dad can focus 100% on fighting cancer. And hopefully with his focus fully on his health, (all 10 fingers and toes crossed), he will win!

Alternative Therapies:

His alternative therapies are very expensive. Some of these we have yet to be able to afford- but have seen them be used in other cancer patients with extreme success! We will start these the minute we can afford them!

CBD oil 3500mG bottle/1000mg a day- $149.99 a bottle, it lasts him 3 days. He will need to buy 11 bottles a month.

RSO oil- $40/gram. He will eventually be taking 1 gram per day, so that is $40 a day! We will be getting that locally sourced.

PEMF mat- It is a therapy mat, which we have started looking into. It has helped many cancer patients heal. It doesn’t actually heal your body, but allows your body to achieve the optimum environment to heal itself! It can run anywhere from $3,000-$6,000.

Thank you all for reading and donating. We truly appreciate it!
