Gary Hawley Support Fund

An infection in Gary Hawley’s right leg resulted in an amputation below his knee. While Gary is in good spirits and doing well, there is a long road of recovery and rehabilitation that lies before him. He will continue rehabilitation at home and attend therapy appointments for one or more months. He will be attempting to build his strength to be able to maintain a joyful and independent life. His heart's desire has been and still is to be strong in the service of his God, family and friends.
After one month, he will be fitted for his first prosthesis. Another season of therapy and rehab will follow. During that time he will learn to use his prothesis and once again adjust to life. The healing process will require multiple fittings and prostheses in the first year or two.
The continued support of family and friends is critical for all those who are disabled, even after the initial amputation. Disabled persons desire love and compassion yet need resources and encouragement to live a life just as marvelous and purposeful as before.
Gary and Donna are thankful for the love and support that has already been poured out on them and appreciate the visits, calls, prayers and texts. However, they have a great need at this time for financial support, especially related to 1) supplemental income as Gary is self employed and unable to work for the foreseeable future, 2) medical bills and prescriptions, and 3) assistance with expenses and equipment necessary to adapt to life with one leg. The burden of these costs can be overwhelming, but with your support their burdens will be lighter.
Gary and Donna are at peace with this outcome and have seen the hand of the Lord move in many ways. The doctors have commented on their faith during this time. Gary and Donna know that life as they have known it is changing and trust that God will provide for the spiritual and temporal needs in this new chapter.
“God is able to do exceedingly more than all we hope or imagine, according to His promise that is at work within us.”
Thank you for your willingness to give through money, prayers and support.
