Coach Garrison was a youth coach for Vallejo Little League Baseball, Vallejo Babe Ruth, Vallejo Pop Warner Football, Joe DiMaggio League, and served the community of Vallejo for over 30 years, from 1972 to 2008, coaching and mentoring youth to become skilled athletes, responsible citizens, and good team players. He continued to serve as a coach and umpire in later years, following his grandsons' sports careers while they resided in the cities of Suisun, Stockton, San Diego, Orange, and Anaheim.
Jerry was born on Oahu, Hawaii, but spent the majority of his life in Vallejo. He attended Vallejo Jr. High and Vallejo High School before returning to Hawaii, where he met his wife and began a family. He returned to the community of Vallejo in 1972 and was employed as an emergency medical technician for Solano Ambulance and Berton Ambulance companies. He volunteered countless hours raising funds for a variety of sports programs and booster clubs in Vallejo at the local bingo halls. Many seniors will remember him as their favorite bingo caller. He bowled for many Vallejo bowling leagues, enjoyed riding horses, fishing, and occasional golf. He had a great sense of humor and developed friendships with many people of Vallejo. He always called Vallejo his home.
Jerry is preceded by his wife Irma Leilani Perez Alu Garrison and survived by five adult children: Raelynn Omar, Gerald A. J. Garrison, Jade San Juan, Jason Garrison and Rahale Watson; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
