Gerald Alston needs help

Brookline Firefighter needs our help.
Gerald Alston, Jr. risked his life for the Town of Brookline, Massachusetts for over 10 years, receiving honorary awards in the process. Today, Gerald is being systematically forced out of the Brookline Fire Department as a consequence of reporting that his white supervisor left a him a voice mail calling him a "F*cking N*gger". Today, and for the past 6 years, Gerald has been fighting to regain his livelihood, his dignity, and the dignity of all People of Color in Brookline. In the process he has lost his home, his family's well-being, and his health.
Gerald, is a diabetic and recently began battling thyroid cancer. Brookline will not put him back on active duty but has no grounds to fire him. Therefore, by denying him Paid Administrative Leave, they are trying to force him out of the BFD because by working another job to support himself and his children, he would be in violation of his contract.
Gerald reported the racist slur to the appropriate people, via the appropriate channels. The Town administrators heard the tape. They suspended the Supervisor for a few days and when he returned he was promoted to interim Captain and then permanently promoted. He continues to rise in the BFD. When Gerald protested the promotion, objected to the absence of a Town discrimination policy, and pointed out the ineffectiveness of the Town's "Diversity" training, Brookline's officials began to punish, silence, and discredit him.
The after-math of his discrimination complaint has taken a tremendous emotional, financial and physical toll on Gerald's entire family. This is an example of the generational devastation racist acts cause families, cultures, and communities in real-time. Through it all, Gerald Alston has shown courage and dignity.
Please help protest wrong-doing by supporting Gerald Alston as he stands alone against Brookline's town government. All donations go directly to Gerald's household expenses, medical
bills, and the care of his children.
