My name is Kim Scott, I am a 23 year old Para Dressage rider with Cerebral Palsy training for the next Paralympic Games, Tokyo 2020. To achieve my big goals, I am in need of some help to achieve the many steps along the way!
I am a part of the national Equestrian Canada Para Equestrian Talent ID Squad and finished 2017 ranked 4th on the squad with my mount Adhemar. Throughout the past year we have reached new heights at several National competitions, winning many awards and championships. Now it is time for me to take the next step in my journey in May where I will be borrowing a horse in Ottawa and representing Canada interationally for the first time.
Riding is an expensive sport. There are two athletes to fund, the rider and the horse! With the cost of board, feed, equiptment, coaching, vet, farrrier, and then my chiro, physio ect. the cost adds up before we even step into the arena! To get us to Ottawa I have to cover entry fees, horse fees, hotel fees and more over the two weeks we are there, adding to about $5000, which is only one of my many competitions this season. This is more than I can cover on my own, which is why i am looking for suport!
My riding career started as therapy for my CP, enabilling me to sit up on my own, hold a pencil, and walk straight down the street! Now it's a burning passion, when I am riding all my limitations dissapear, I'm an athlete, coach, and mentor to other young riders. Now it's time for me continue, and it's time I ask for the help I need to make my dreams come true!
