I'm Maury Decay, a gay tattoo artist based in London and I am seeking help to raise money to hire an exhibitor's booth at Drag World UK, Europe's largest drag convention, which is being held at the Grand Hall of Olympia London between August 26-27. As this is Europe's largest convention of it's kind, it unfortunately means that it is also extremely expensive to be able to work there, which is why I need your help!
I have been working in London as a professional tattoo artist for almost seven years and, I have found that homophobia and mysogyny are still a reality within the industry. Tattooing is all about expressing who you are as an individual so, it doesn't make sense that discrimination like this still exists in 2017!
For me, this convention is a great opportunity to showcase my work in an environment where I can be myself without fear of being made fun of or abused for my sexual orientation or appearance. If I raised enough money to be able to hire a booth, I would be tattooing and selling my artwork on both days, with 50% of my earnings being donated to London Friend, a charity that supports the health and mental wellbeing of the LGBTQ community in and around London.
If I did manage to raise enough money to go, it would mean the world to me and hopefully I can be an example for other gay professionals to just be who they are.
All products I use are VEGAN
and NOT TESTED ON ANIMALS.
