My dog Puck is my best friend and my emotional support animal. He has been in my life for 4 years now ever since he was 8 weeks old. He is the light of my life.
Last April to May we started to notice a growing issue with Puck’s anal glands. They ruptured once, we paid for it and he seemed to be getting better. Wrong. Since last may his anal glands have ruptured over 20 times and he hasn’t taken a solid poop in almost a year. It started off like just softened stool, but steadily grew into constant diarrhea and eventually just pooping out blood constantly. We’ve been to the vet multiple times and every time we get no closer to answers. He has been on multiple medications and after Christmas he spent two weeks boarded at the vet to be checked on and evaluated where his medical bills reached up to $1,000. They ran every test and the only thing they could tell me is that his GI tract is inflamed and that his anal glands need to come out. We put him on a special GI diet and took him home. Since he has been home, his ruptured anal gland has not closed and he is still not pooping solid nor has he stopped pooping blood. I am heartbroken for him and at my wits end. We have a baby on the way this year and we just have been depleted of funds to help him and to continue exploration into his issues. I’m so tired of seeing my baby in pain. If we can’t figure out what is wrong, the only other solution is to put him down which devastates me. I would rather put him down than see him in pain every day of his life.
I just want my happy, healthy baby back.
Anal gland surgery is almost $2,000.
Exploration into his issues with Xrays and boarding and medicines etc will be expensive, at least another $1,000.
Whatever money is donated over the amount of his vet bills, I will use to cover another vets bill at that hospital so no other dog has to worry about payment to get the help they need.
