Hello,
My name is Jameesha Lamar and I am a third-year student at the University of Georgia in Athens. This Summer of 2018, my college, the School of Public and International Affairs, offers the GLOBIS Study abroad program in Verona, Italy which I was graciously offered to attend. During these three years as a Political Science Major with Pre-Law intent, I was able to be exposed to Italian culture through my partaking of Italian language courses offered at the University. This study abroad program will take my newfound interest in Italian culture to more than just knowledge in books, but an experience which I will cherish forever. Immersing myself into the history of Verona and the other beautiful cities of Italy will also help my understanding of the earliest forms of government as well as help benefit me in my career in Politics on a global level.
In addition to majoring in Political Science, I achieved a lot of great accomplishments which include but isn’t limited to, becoming a Student Ambassador for the School of Public and International Affairs, Serving as the Community Service Coordinator for B.E.S.T, Maintaining a 3.2 GPA, as well as recently was offered an Internship with Greenberg and Traurig LLP.
For this program, I received a partial amount of money from my scholarship to help fund the classes I will take overseas as well work as a Desk Assistant for one of the residence halls on campus. However, there still is a substantial amount left to pay. My goal is to raise $7000 which will cover the Lodging, Meals, Airfare, and more costs. ANY Amount is helpful for me and greatly appreciated.
My mother, growing up, always said that I would travel the world. “If There is a Will, there is a way” is what my mother believed in and that is why I want to fulfill my dream and will to study abroad.
