Thank you for visiting our page! Ghost really needs your help to keep him moving towards recovery. Ghost has been my hiking partner, emotional support, best friend, and cuddle buddy for a year now. We've been through a lot together, but nothing like this past week. I've posted photos to Ghost's Facebook page if you want to see the full story of how we got to this point together (www.facebook.com/ghostclark).
After a fun day playing in the park, Ghost started acting funny. His breathing was shallow and he was whimpering, which he never does. I rushed Ghost to the vet where tests confirmed he had air around his lungs, most likely from a rupture. They tried the least invasive approaches first to release the air and get the rupture to heal, but the results of their efforts indicated it was too large to heal on its own. After two sleepless nights and almost $1,850 of tests and procedures, Ghost needed thoracic surgery that would cost between $5,000 and $8,000 or he would die.
Ghost's surgery went well; they found where his lungs had ruptured and removed the damaged tissue. A biopsy was sent out to determine what caused the damage (we should get the results early next week). Ghost was recovering nicely, but they noticed signs of air in his abdomen again. This could be something minor, or it could mean another leak in his lungs (maybe a popped stitch or staple). I'll post updates here and on facebook as soon as I get any new information from the vet.
Ghost is worth every cent I've invested towards his recovery, but I now have zero financial flexibility to support these new developments or anything that could come up in the future. Ghost and I would greatly appreciate any support you can give to help with his medical expenses. If that is a contribution of few dollars or even just forwarding this campaign or his Facebook page to your friends, it would mean so much to Ghost and me.
If we get through this tough time, I'll use his Facebook page to share updates and post photos of Ghost's life you helped save. To see Ghost's story so far, go to www.facebook.com/ghostclark.
Thank you!
