Building A Giant Kaleidoscope
Donation protected
As an artist when I make an artwork I normally see the finished product in my mind. It is almost like my mind has a slide carousel and a new slide comes into view then I am compelled to have it come into reality.
Currently, one of those mind slides is emerging into reality. But, it has been harder to form than expected and I am in need of some financial assistance to help the piece fully come together. I would like you to take part in helping me to create a large scale rotating kaleidoscope that is 8x2x2ft and mirrored on the inside and outside. The artwork involves video, sound, and moving parts. The piece is meant to be a multisensory experience that alters perception.
The piece will be displayed multiple times debuting at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art. Already, I and many others have spent multiple months gathering materials, drafting plans, and forming mock-ups of this artwork. With assistance from multiple engineering students we have been able to begin forming the final piece with success and have also received donations of some materials from Jone’s Paint and Glass and Metal Mart. But the expenses are still high.
With the time, materials, and workspace this art piece would cost well over 5,000 dollars. But, with donations of time and materials we can make it happen for 1,500. If you are willing to donate any amount your contribution would be immensely appreciated. Small gifts will also be given for your generosity.
