Gideon's Mayo Clinic Trip(s)
Donation protected
Here is a summary of Gideon's story. The purpose of his campaign is to help fund two trips to the Mayo Clinic. The first trip has a departure of April 26,2017. We will be gone approximately four weeks for a series of tests. We will return approximately in August for more tests. As of now doctors have been actively investigating Gideon's possible medical problems. A form of cystic fibrosis has been already diagnosed and it is believed he may also have Pearson syndrome. Gideon has had many surgeries and hospitalizations. We are ready and willing to sacrifice all that we am to get him the care he needs. If you are unable to donate financially please pray for Gideon.

Gideon James Hobbs was born 2/3/2016 at 28 weeks . Mom was airlifted to Portland as she and dad discovered only two weeks prior that Gideon would need surgery immediately after birth for something very rare called a meconium pseudocyst. The doctors tried to prepare the family for the worst and they prayed for the best.
All along mom and dad tried to mentally prepare that their sweet baby may skip the trials of this world and immediately reunite with their Father in Heaven. Mom had Gideon before dad could make it to the hospital ;
which was a six hour drive for dad. Soon after dad arrived Gideon was prepped for surgery and partial removal and drainage of his pseudocyst. The procedure went well and Gideon continued to surprise his medical team with his warrior like strength and determination to live. Gideon is a perfect example that prayers work in accordance with God's will. The Hobbs family is so grateful for everyone's continued dedication to uplift and pray for Gideon.
Update 3/19/2017
Gideon has had a year full of ups and downs. Our doctors in Portland have been so kind and good to us. Unfortunately; we are no closer to answers now. His hematologist and primary care physician believe he would greatly benefit from being seen at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. I called them after they did and they have scheduled him for about three weeks of tests and study. They're considering the possibility of a new diagnosis or a new variation of a known condition. He is failing to thrive and if we don't get him there we could miss something that could save his life. We will be trying to do an auction, garage sale, and bake sale. Even with the best results I don't think we will make enough for this trip. Driving with our three children will be most cost effective as it is about 32 hours with a family of five and a service dog. We will need to get hotels, food, and for our safety I would love for my husband to accompany us across the country. To miss work for a month or possibly more we will need help. Anything will help. We are praying daily and have so much faith that our little boy will have the happiest life possible even if the future is as bleak as some physicians have made it to be. We have been lucky to attend the temple as a couple and receive a boost in our faith. We know that as long as we are faithful God will provide. Thank you all! This trip if my husband can come will cost will be great. Whether we can make the funds or not he will be going. We will take a loan if we have to. Anything will help. We pray one day we will be financially blessed to help others in this way. Until then we will continue to give our time, love, and services we can offer. Please check Gideon's Facebook page for updates on his health and our family.
