Materials for baby blankets & hats

Donation protected

This past summer I had the opportunity to travel to Banjul, The Gambia in West Africa in order to conduct research with my peers and professors. My research was on prenatal nutrition practices, thus leading me to intern at Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in the Labor and Delivery Ward within the Maternity portion of the hospital.

During my time there I was able to witness first hand some of the most remarkable doctors and midwives available at work. However, there were several times where a situation could not be helped because the lack of basic supplies.

Upon realizing this, I began to ask some of the doctors and midwives what kinds of things they'd like to have in the ward. It was a nearly unanimous decision that "baby hats and blankets" were items they'd like to be able to have available for the babies and mothers they take care of. The comfort of mother and newborn was an aim they wished they could consistently achieve. Even in tropical climates, babies often get pneumonia after they are cleaned and bathed for their mommies!

Through donating, you'll be helping several students who will sew and crochet both blankets and hats for the newborn babies in The Gambia obtain supplies to do so. Every cent will be directly put towards the cause, and thank you very much!

If you can't afford to donate, but you have some extra yarn, fabric, or fleece lying around feel free to send those to the following address:
