GlandGoneWild: Autumn's Cancer Fund
Donation protected
This is Autumn.
Autumn is an 18-year-old high school senior who was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma. While many thyroid cancers are curable, Autumn's is not. At the time of diagnosis, her malignancy was already widely spread, and the reality is that Autumn's doctors currently hope to extend her life another three years.
Despite the dire prognosis, Autumn very much remains Autumn. She will graduate high school in May and hopes to start college in the fall. She has a part time job and continues to approach life with the same zest and infectious sense of humor that she has always had. Her poise, positivity, and concern for others in the face of her own devastating trials are truly inspiring.
Autumn and her family have sought the help of cancer specialists at MD Anderson in Houston, TX. About every six weeks they will travel from central Kentucky to Houston to visit her medical team.
Fact: The treatment of Autumn's Stage 4 medullary thyroid carcinoma will be a financially crippling endeavor. Autumn will start her first round of chemotherapy very soon. Her chemotherapeutic agent alone, cabozantinib, costs $13,000 for just a few months' supply. Considering that outlay plus the consultation fees, the frequent travel to and from Houston, and the ongoing testing, the costs are simply overwhelming.
Please join us in easing the financial burden that this horribly unfair disease has placed on Autumn's family. Your donation will not only ensure that Autumn gets the care she desperately needs, it will also allow her to focus on pouring everything she has into this cherished life. Thanks so much for your consideration.
