Please help Jack's surgery

Jack would have died in a day. He has a major bladder obstruction, due to stress. It caught me at a very tight time - doesn't it always. The vet just called me with an update: his bladder was full with blood. His kidneys were still ok, but would have shut down in a day or two. His potassium was high, and would have led to heart failure in one day. They put a catheter in him to flush out his bladder, gave him lots of pain meds.
Due to Jack being so sensitive, he will be put on meds until the living situation calms down, and I move in here. He will also be put on Prozac (yes, really).
Jack and his sister Moysee have had mega upheavals lately - they went from being mostly feral to being indoors, having to move locations. Jack is a highly sensitive cat, very elusive, at times distant, and hides and runs away a lot. I noticed last week that he wasn't eating right, not even his beloved treats. Then that improved. Yesterday he was limp and making noises of discomfort, and today I took him to the vet. When I picked him up, he was bleeding out of his penis.
The bill is so far a bit over $1400, of which I had to pay half, and the other half on Monday when I pick him up. I hope what the vet will do will work. I cannot lose Jack now.
The whole story:
They came across my way in November 2014, and I have fought hard for them. They were small, riddled with fleas and worms, and I thought Moysee wouldn't make it. (They were the 5th and 6th cat I had taken to Fix Our Ferals out of 7 total between June 2014 and March 2015.) I fattened them up for months, then took them to get fixed and shots, and save Moysee's left eye which she nearly lost when it got infected after a large cat scratched her over a food fight. I had to relocate them a few months later after the former landlady told me she wants them gone or I need to move out. Good friends took them in their backyard, and I went there 4-5 times a week to help feed them and sit on and in blankets with them on camp chairs in the yard, even when it was below 50F out, and even in light rain. They think I'm their mommy, and I will not give up on them. We are close to living all together very soon. They have been through a lot. They had an unlucky beginning in  life (probably no mother's milk due to their state when they came to me), and they remained very small, but normally are healthy. Moysee is doing fine inside now, she's easy going and sociable. Jack is the "problem" kid of sorts, and I go there every day after work to clean, feed, sit with them and brush them and play.
I once said to my friend where they have lived now for 2.5 years that I need them more than they need me. They kept me sane when things were not great. We all know that animals do that to us. So now Jack needs me, and I will not fail him.
