Golden Spike Anniversary at Utah
May 10, 1869
On May 10, 1869, a golden spike was driven at Promontory, Utah, signaling the completion of the first transcontinental railroad in the United States.

I have been attending this event for the last two years and hope to attend this year. Due to limited finances I may not make it out there without your help.
A part of the annual re-enactment of the driving of the golden spike is people showing up in period costumes. Last year I was the only Chinese dressed in full period costume at the event representing the more than 12,000 Chinese workers of the Transcontinental Railway.
I also hope to be making a presentation and demonstration about the possible foods the Chinese railway workers ate at the Ogden Railroad Museum on the Saturday prior.
No contribution is too small. But I hope to give a small drawing or photo for your contribution of $50 or more.

Who you are:
I am Leland Wong, a descendent of a railroad worker, my great grandfather worked on the Transcontintenental Railroad.
I am born and raised in San Francisco Chinatown and still reside in San Francisco. I am an artist and photographer.

I am raising money for just myself.
How the money will be used:
Money will be used for train fare, hotel accomodations, board and various expenses.
How soon you need the funds:
I hope to have these funds before the end of April 2016.
Why this means so much to you:
To honor my great grandfather and the more than 12,000 Chinese workers of the Transcontinental Railroad. Very little is mentioned in history books. We must make our presence at the annual event.
