Help Grandma (85) Abused for Supporting Trump

Donation protected
The past four weeks have been a nightmare! My grandmother, Selma Chipman, was in an altercation at the assisted living facility where she was residing in Robertson County, TN. I took her to our local hospital to be evaluated as a result of this. The hospital believed that she had been abused. We believe two workers held her down while one hit her. The bruising and her story are very consistent with this explanation. There is compelling evidence that the entire incident revolved around my grandmother’s support of President Trump and their disdain for him. The sheriff’s department has made one arrest so far and has issued a warrant for another individual. They have compelling evidence.

We trusted this facility with the care of our grandmother. We never imagined anything like this would happen! The political culture in our society has gotten out of control. An 85-year-old woman living in an assisted living facility should be able to talk about her admiration of our President without the threat of physical abuse!

We are very grateful for our local Sheriff's office and the work they have done to bring justice to this situation.

My grandmother is a widow. My grandfather, a WWII veteran, died 17 years ago. My grandma never remarried and lived on her own until about 2 years ago. My wife and I took on the care of our grandmother because she now needs some assistance and can no longer live on her own. She raised horses most of her adult life and enjoyed her farm greatly.

The assisted living facility that she was in charges $1750 per month. We cannot send her back to that facility and we cannot afford any of the others around us. In our area, they range from $3000-$6000 per month. My grandmother is on a fixed income that would only cover a small fraction of this. We are applying for VA benefits for her but the process is not quick.

I am also leery to trust another facility with her care. This incident has had a traumatic effect on our family. We have decided to bring her back to our home. The caseworker at the hospital feels this would be best for her.

We are finishing a room for her that will have a bathroom, kitchenette, living area, and bedroom area. We also need to add a ramp ($2,500), handicap stair lift ($12,000), and other necessary handicap accessibility modifications to our home to accommodate her. She spent 3 weeks in the hospital and these medical bills will be a tremendous burden.

We are turning to Go Fund Me to help raise funds to cover the medical, construction, and other related expenses we now have as a result of this incident.

The financial burden of this has been a struggle and this is where you can help! Donations and prayers are very much appreciated!
