Greg Mandriota's Life Fund

Greg Mandriota is a huge-hearted young man who has been through some pretty rough times, especially in this last decade. Although he came from a good family, seems certain negative events in his life sent him down the wrong path which inevitably resulted in severe depression and anxiety, among other things.

In the efforts of trying to help himself, and after being in two back-to-back auto accidents from which doctors placed him on opioids and other meds, he ended up a drug abuser. Didn’t see it coming, but it happened. It got so bad, he lost his job, couldn’t hold any one down, lost all his relationships except for his parents, and was suicidal. He just did not have the strength nor did he want to live anymore.

When he hit rock bottom, he did the only thing he could to save himself: He admitted to himself that he was in desperate need of help, drove himself to a hospital with the last bit of change he had for gas, and admitted himself for detox and rehab. After that, he voluntarily transferred to a residential long-term rehab facility where he followed the program, became the other residents’ advocate for their rights, and successfully fought a battle to stay clean and sober despite the abundance of drugs that were constantly circulated in the rehab facility.

He got to six months clean and sober when his health took a turn for the worse, and he ended up in the hospital for seven weeks, at which time he underwent a total colectomy (removal of colon) with resection of the small intestine and rectum. And if that wasn’t bad enough, complications ensued. And after two more weeks of negligence on the part of the surgeon, he was removed AMA (against medical advice) by his parents and brought to a different hospital, where he is now, to fix what happened during his first nine weeks in the first hospital.

Greg made it through the intense pain associated with that entire hospital stay taking only Advil and Tylenol because of his determination to never use again.

Greg is soon to be released, God willing, and will have to go to his parents’ house as his rehab facility will not allow him to be there with an open wound which extends from hip to hip, one of the reasons his parents removed him from that surgeon’s care at the first hospital. He has infection that is not responding to medication at the moment, but they are praying that in time he heals completely.

Greg has his car out for repossession, bills that have piled up due to his inability to work since being admitted to the very first hospital back in February of this year, his phone has been shut off, and starting anew will be next to impossible when he has to leave his parents’ home once he is fully healed. That is no way to start a new life, one that he fought so hard to be able to achieve.

It is for these reasons, and more not mentioned, that we are asking you to open your hearts and help give this young man, who wants to live a clean and sober life and be a productive part of society, a fighting chance. This will enable him to perhaps save his vehicle, if it’s not to late, get his phone back, put some money down on an apartment, and have some pocket change to start over with a fighting chance. He has worked so hard to get to this point, but he cannot do this alone. So I am asking for your help for Greg. Like I said at the outset, his has a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back.

But unfortunately right now, he has nothing but his love to give.
