Justice for Steve Mullings

Hello

My name is Steve Mullings and I have been betrayed by  Jamaica Athletic Federation.

Even since I was 14 years old, I had big dreams of representing my homeland Jamaica internationally in the sports of track and field.

In 2002, I made the decision to attend school in the United States to fulfil the dream of my mother and myself of earning my college degree.

This decision angered many people in the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) who wanted me to forgo school and become a professional athlete. The individuals who took the most offense to my decision were JAAA employees Dr. Paul Auden and Dr. Herb Elliot.

After turning down a contract with shoe giant Nike to attend school at Mississippi State University, I was set up by Dr. Paul Auden and Dr. Herb Elliot with a positive test result stemming from my participation in the 2004, Jamaica National Olympic Trial where I made the team.

In 2004, I was taken into a meeting at the Jamaica National Stadium by track and field sports agent Cubie Seegobin to meet with the Nike representative Llewellyn who offered me a contract that I had rejected.

Both Doctor Auden and Elliot were scheduled to receive money from Nike if I had signed that professional contract.

One month after the Jamaica National Trial, where I qualified for the 2004 Olympic team, I received a phone call that my urine sample had a positive finding for elevate testosterone.

I was immediately transported to a Labcorp location in the Mississippi area to complete a drug test that show I was clean and no illegal substance was in my system as claimed by Jamaica.

Before my schedule hearing in Jamaica, I received several calls from individuals including Dr. Paul Auden urging me to confess to taking the drugs in return for a reduced suspension.

Dr. Auden tried to convince my college coach at the time to encourage me to confess. The Doctor went as far as to offer to buy the drugs and present it to the panel of judges but I rejected his offer.

Dr. Paul Auden, made several attempts to meet with me in private before the hearing, all of which I rejected.

My initial 2004, hearing was postponed because of heavy rain and flooding. I returned to school at Mississippi State and the new hearing was held without me.

All my evidences were rejected by Jamaica, even the fact the identification number on the sample bottle was tampered with.

I was given a (2) two years without a proper trial by the Jamaica Athletic Administrative Association.

The suspension from international track and field affected my personal life, college and professional career in the most painful ways imaginable.

I was later told by several individuals including members of the Jamaica Athletic Administrative Association that my urine sample that returned a possible test was tampered with and switched for the Former World Record Holder and fellow country man Asafa Powell.

I was informed that the main individuals involved were Dr. Paul Auden, Dr. Herb Elliot and the former coach of Asafa Powell, Mr. Stephen Francis.

I used the next 7 years leading up to 2011 to rededicate myself to the sports I loved.

Between 2004 and 2011, I was tested numerous times on a regular basis by IAAF, USADA, WADA and I never once returned a positive test.

I have never in my track and field career knowingly cheated or have I ever taken any banned substance.

In 2011, I was one of the fastest men in the world leading up to the World Championship with a personal best time of 9.80 seconds in the 100M. I was picked to be a medallist in the 100m, 200m and in the 4x100M relay.

Once again, in Jamaica I ran into Doctor Herb Elliot, who angrily attacked me because as he claimed I told the media in New York at Adidas Meet that the sample in 2004, tampered with.

After the 100M, finals at the Jamaica National Trials, Dr. Elliot rushed over to get me and singled me out for immediate testing.

Once I entered to testing area I got suspicious because several other athletes were just sitting around without supervision.  I was the only athlete under watchful eyes when I was to give my urine sample. It was suspicious because I was the only one who did not live and train in Jamaica that made the World Championship team in the 100M Mens.

I was approached by Jamaican athlete Nesta Carter who is closely associated with Dr. Herb Elliot, Coach by Stephen Francis and is associated with Dr. Paul Auden about giving up my spot to him.

Nesta Carter later asked my friend and fellow athlete Lerone Clarke to tell me he wanted my spot of the world championship team.

I was also approached by another athlete Marvin Anderson, who stated he was going to lose his shoe contract therefore he wanted my spot on the team also.

It was reported that Herb Elliot was angry at me and told Racer Track club and Usain Bolt’s coach Glen Mills I cannot make the team while they were at finish line. This was because Nesta Carter did not make the team.

For the second time at the hands of Dr. Herb Elliot, I recorded a positive test this time not for testosterone but for the banned masking agent. Not drugs but a masking agent.

I knew I was clean, I was tested several times before I went to Jamaica and after I returned from Jamaica. All of those tests were conducted by more reputable organization such as WADA, IAAF and USADA all off which I passed and showed no sign of drugs.

Test dates which I successfully completed before and after the 2011 Jamaica National Trials.

April 30, 2011 Penn Relays (conducted by USADA)

May 7, 2011 International Invitational (conducted by IAAF)

June 4, 2011 Prefontaine (conducted by USADA)

After the Jamaica National Trials

July 30, 2011 Terra Sada (conducted by CONI)

August 4, 2011 conducted by ( USADA for IAAF).

Once again, I received several phone calls, text messages and emails that I fell victim to Dr. Herb Elliot and MVP Coach Stephen Francis who so happened to be the coach of the athlete that wanted my spot Nesta Carter and Asafa Powell.

Since 2011, I have received several death threats linked to the governing body of Jamaica and a life time ban from the sports I love.

Jamaica has done everything to deny my right to a proper trial; they denied my rights to have my sample analysed and DNA tested.

The attorney for  Jamaica Laskton Robinson got involved and asked to Court of Arbitration for Sports to deny my request for the DNA testing of my sample and the court agreed.

I have tried to get help from Jamaica, the International body and WADA but no one is responding.

I have lost everything; I am broke and unable to find employment because of the stigma attached to my name.

I am not looking to run again for Jamaica again. All I want to do is clear my name so I can earn a living to take care of my wife and son.

I am appealing to WADA, IAAF, the prime minister of Jamaica, JADCO president Carey Brown and JAAA president Warren Blake for help. All I ask if that you take a second look at my case.

Lord Sabastian Coe, you are the new president of IAAF, who ran on the promise of ridding the sports of corruption, I need your help.

I am making a personal appeal to Racer track club coach Glen Mills to cooperate and help in the investigation of my case.

Former JADCO president Renee Ann Shirley has reached out to WADA but I am yet to hear back.

Ms. Shirley states she is bound by confidentiality to Jamaica therefore she cannot help personally.

I have investigators and lawyers who are willing to help but I do not have the money to pay, this is why I am turn to the public for help, I have nowhere else to turn at this time.

I have done everything in my power from taking and successfully pass several drugs test, hair follicle test and a lie detector test, I have nowhere else to turn, and I need help.

Dr. Paul Auden who is involved in setting me up stated he will only help for $500,000 and protection.

From one of the investigator:

to me

Hi

"I just received a phish call. Paul Auden is willing to talk for money and protection. I have told them offer no money unless he can give up some credible info first then we might consider a deal."

I was told JADCO new president Carey Brown is scared to help it is reported that he is involved in the corruption. He is the inside man for Glen Mills and the racers track club.

The following letter was sent to JADCO president Carey Brown several months ago and he claimed he does not have the authority to do anything about my case.

Dear Mr. Carey Brown

My name is Steve Mullings; please let this letter serve as my formal request for the release of my urine samples for retesting and new hearing in my alleged use of steroid cases (2004 & 2011). The samples were collected 2004 & 2011 at the Jamaica National Trial and are stored in the WADA lab in Montreal Canada. I am requesting the sample of the following grounds:

·         At no point did I use any steroid or performance enhancement drugs.

·         In order prove that JADCO can and will do right by its athletes in light of recent cases of mishandling of samples: re Veronica Campbell Brown vs JADCO.

·         The 2013, resignation of JADCO board members involved in my case including Herb Elliot, Dr Winston Davidson, Molly Rhone, Professor Rainford Wilks, Cathy Rattray Samuel, Senator Sophia Fraser-Binns, Merlene Lawrence Wright, Joan Brown, Bishop Peter Morgan, Mike Fennel, and Dr Marion Bullock-Ducasse.

·         The fact that my testimony, witnesses or evidence were never allowed into the hearing in 2011.

·         On the grounds that members on the panel of judges who determined by faith credibility has since come under scrutiny re: 2014. Deputy chairman of the Jamaica Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel, Lennox Gayle, arrested and charge by Jamaica's Organised Crime Investigation Division for alleged breaches of the country's Sex Offence Act

·         On the grounds that Dr. Herb Elliot’s, credibility and credentials coupled with the fact that I was confronted by the doctor before the national trial in 2011.

·         On the grounds that Dr. Paul Auden offered to buy me drugs in 2004 in return I would admit to an offense I never committed and have a suspension deduced which I rejected.

·         On the grounds that my urine samples were mishandled in 2004 and 2011.

·         On the grounds that I have since received information from more than one source that my samples was tampered/mishandled with.

·         On the grounds that an individual gave false testimony against me as my chaperone who was not.

·         On the grounds that I am completed a lie detector test that can verify my accounts and I am willing another at your request.

·         On the grounds that both Marvin Anderson and Nesta Carter had request that I drop off the 2011, World Championship Team so they would get my spots to save their contracts.

·         On the grounds that Dr. Elliot angrily told someone I could never beat Nesta Carter in the 100m and then immediately ordered me to the testing lab.

·         On the grounds that individuals contacted myself and my coach at the time to claim that “ Jamaica could make sure I never made the team”.

·         On the grounds of the revelations of one Renee Anne Shirley

I looking forward to hearing back from you on or before June 29, 2015.

Sincerely

Steve Mullings

Mr. Carey Brown responded on July 25, 2015, stating, Jadco has no authority to release my sample for retesting or to facilitate a hearing for the reasons I had outlined.
