***UPDATE***

With the help of our supporters and our local partner Amigos de la Aldea, Global BrightLight has distributed 31 solar lanterns to volunteer firefighters on the front lines of the rescue and recovery effort! Please help us raise enough money to hit our goal of equipping 50 first responders with long-lasting, high-quality lighting and cell phone charging!

***UPDATE***

The eruption of Volcan de Fuego in Guatemala on June 3rd has killed 75 people and injured hundreds more. Right now, first responders are bravely risking their lives searching for victims amid the ash and rubble. They are working under impossible conditions with few resources and many of them are volunteers.

Two of the biggest problems they face are access to high-quality, long-lasting lighting and the ability to recharge their cell phones in the absence of electricity.

The goal of this fundraiser is to provide 50 solar lanterns that can provide up to 36 hours of bright light on a single charge and recharge cell phone batteries. The total cost of these 50 solar lanterns is $2,000. We hope to raise even more money so we can better equip more of the brave men and women on the front lines of this disaster.

100% of all funds raised will go to directly to first responders working in the disaster area. We plan to transfer the first payment to Guatemala on Sunday the 10th. We need your support now to ensure that we are able make the biggest impact possible in the immediate aftermath of this horrible tragedy.

This relief effort is being coordinated by Global BrightLight Foundation in the US and it's local partner Amigos de la Aldea in Guatemala. Global BrightLight (GBL) in a US-based 501c3 non-profit that has worked in Guatemala since 2013 with the mission of providing affordable solar energy solutions to people living without electricity in the country. Amigos de la Aldea is a Guatemalan non-profit incorporated in 2009 and shares GBL's mission of providing solar energy to those who need it most.

Please make a donation today and support first responders in Guatemala who are risking their lives to help those who need it most.
