Lucas Family expenses

On Saturday afternoon (11/8/14) Ben started to feel some pretty bad pain in his right leg. His ...mom and dad took him to the ER and docs there waned to send him home with some ice and told him to rest. After some mother's intuition and advocating by both mom and dad, they ran some more tests and found the tumor on his leg. Immediately the Cheyenne hospital was in contact with the Children's Hospital in Denver and they were admitted at noon on Sunday. It has been a whirlwind three days since then. There has been a lot of fear, unknown, questions, tears, hugging and praying. Ben had a bone scan on Monday and PET and CT scans on Tuesday. All came back CLEAR!! Praise God. Also on Tuesday he had the biopsy on his leg, bone marrow biopsy and port put in his chest for the Chemo. The docs confirmed that Ben has Ewing's Sarcoma a form of bone cancer that is pretty rare. It is most common in boys going through growing spurts. The doctors and all the staff at Children's have been AMAZING and are very optimistic that not only will Ben be healthy in the years to come, but he will be back on the baseball field again before we know it. Treatment will likely last 9 months to a year, but we will know more about that in the days, weeks and months to come. It will involve Chemo, surgery and then more Chemo.

This page will be used to raise money for the Lucas family.  Right now the anticipated expenses will include medical bills, travel expenses and lost wages for Chris and Carrie when they miss work to be in Denver with Ben or taking care of him at home between treatments.
