Parque Metropolitano

Hi friends and family!
As you may know, I am currently studying abroad in Panama and am working on an independent study project examining the behavior of Geoffroy's Tamarin (a small, incredibly cute monkey) in Parque Natural Metropolitano, in the heart of Panama City. A fellow student and friend of mine, Kelly Russo, is studying the use of underpasses (tunnels that go under a road that runs through the park) by mammals. We both wanted to find a way to raise some money for this incredible place that has been so generous in allowing us to conduct research there as well is improve the area for the amazing wildlife that inhabits this forest.
A Little about Parque Natural Metropolitano:
The Park is known as the Lung of Panama becasue it is the only completely forested area within the crazy bustle of the city. The Park is the largest area of tropical dry forest located entirely within the limits of a metropolitan city in all of Central America. This place is very important to the city and to biodiversity conservation as it is part of the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor. The Park provides a place for people of the city to go to learn about the great diversity of the country they live in and is an escape from the crazyness of the rest of the city. Unfortunately, the park recieves little funding and would really benefit from these funds to increase education and improve the accessiblilty of the park for the people of Panama.
This place has become one of our favorite places in the world and has ignited our desire to ensure that areas like these, and the great diversity of species that live within it are able to continue to persist and even grow in our continually developing world.
Thank you so much for your consideration and donations to this incredible place. Anything you can give will be incredibly appreciated. All proceeds will go directly to the Park.
With Love,
Rachael and Kelly
