Miranda's story
This girl, Miranda, well she's my best friend and the sister I never had. She's been my strength, support and source of constant encouragement. She's helped me to become the person I am proud to be today.
It's killing me to write this as I myself still refuse to believe what has happen that, at 32 years old, she had been diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer that had spread throughout her body to her leg, stomach and lungs at an aggressive rate and on the 29th of December Miranda lost her battle and we had to say good bye way too soon.
I'm so upset and angry because the last ten months she has struggled through pain and been turned away from numerous GPs and specialists without proper diagnoses or treatment for her ominous symptoms. I have watched helplessly as my dear friend coughed up blood clots and slowly became unable to walk with no medical assistance and constantly being turned away from doctors. after she was finally being treated in hospital by a team of caring doctors who had properly diagnosed her. These doctors have identified that this cancer shared the same pathology as a 20 kilo cyst Miranda had removed 2.5 years ago that was never properly followed up on by her former treating doctors and specialists. Her doctors told her that had she had the standard reviews, follow-ups, tests and screens for cancer, her stage 4 diagnosis would have been prevented. They were understandably dumbfounded and angry as to why her former doctors did not properly care for Miranda and run these routine tests and follow-ups – as we all were!
Why didn’t these former doctors run these tests? Oh, because they said they were just treating her pain. But what caused the pain?
The hardest part of this situation is that Miranda is a mum and has left behind her gorgeous 1 year old baby boy, Ethan, who was miraculously conceived between her first and second bouts of cancer. With all her chronic pain and illness's it prevented her from doing all of the special things she wanted to do as a first-time mum.
Please, if you could show your support by giving a donation to help relief the stress off her husband Adam and Ethan. Donations will go towards funeral costs to make Miranda's final farewell as beautiful as she is! Allow Adam time to heal from his loss and spend time with his son Ethan. without the worry about financial stress.
It would mean the world to all of us,
Thank you!
