Hadrian's Wall Walk for KRAN
On the 1900th anniversary of Hadrian's Walk, why not walk the entire length of the wall? And why not also try to support an exceptional charity doing great work at the same time. On 22-27 April - beginning at Bowness-on-Solway and ending at, well, Wallsend - we'll be walking the whole 137km / 85 miles. So, who are we supporting? Firstly, Kent Refugee Action Network ...
Kent Refugee Action Network (KRAN; https://kran.org.uk) works primarily with separated young refugees and asylum seekers. These are young people aged 16 to 24 who have arrived in Kent alone and are claiming asylum. KRAN provides them with a safe, positive space supporting them to succeed. Its services include English language training, learning for life, mentoring, social activities, and support and advocacy around complex issues such as housing etc.. KRAN helps hundreds of young people develop their potential and integrate well into the communities where they live.
Earlier this year, KRAN won the Hans Albrecht Foundation Human Rights Award 2022. I'm honoured to be one of KRAN's Trustees and also volunteer for them as a mentor for a young person.
Secondly, another charity where I've had to set up a separate fundraising page for them too (available here https://www.gofundme.com/manage/hadrians-wall-walk-for-afghanaid).
