Hang A Heart fundraiser for love

This journey began as a simple idea from three children over breakfast the day after the Pulse shooting. Gavin, Victoria, and Jacquelyn were looking for a way to make people happy during this sad time. They quickly remembered a sewing class they took at Joanns Fabric that taught them them how to handstitch on felt. The children decided they would sew hearts to pass them out in the Central Florida community to encourage others. Attaching ribbon to each heart that reads " Love is Free and so is this heart. This heart was made with love to share love. Hang it where you will be reminded and others will be encouraged by hope and kindness when they see it." At that time, the name "Hang A Heart" was born. The goal of 100 hearts was surpassed in a day.Once they saw the impact these hearts and acts of love had on the people who received them, they were eager to do MORE.
Their mission quickly caught the attention of Neema Bahrami, Entertainment Manager at Pulse Nightclub who was moved by the innocent love these children were so passionate about. He spoke about how he felt recieving a heart at the June 19 Vigil at Lake Eola. He has since travelled the USA speaking about the positive influence this gesture has made on so many.
Many heart sewing events have been held for the community to come together with one goal...to spread more love. These hearts have been given to Dallas Police Department, Pulse Orlando employees and victims families, Lousiana flood victims, local teachers and schools, police departments, and strangers on the street. To date, over 4,000 hearts have been made and passed out.
Seeing how great the need for inclusive love is, Hang A Heart incorporated as a non-profit in the State of Florida and is undergoing the long and expensive process of obtaining 501 (c) (3) status. The mission being: Hang A Heart, Inc. influences, enlightens, and emphasizes the importance of love that transcends religion, politics, and culture.
We need your help to keep this love going. Please consider donating to help us cover the cost of supplies like felt, ribbon, stuffing, and printing tags so we can hold more events and make more hearts. If you are unable to give at this time, please share this on your Facebook wall. We also invite you to see what we are up to at: Hang a heart with Gavin, Victoria, and Jacquelyn on Facebook and/or on instagram at: hangaheart.
