Hank's TPLO Surgery
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
A couple of weeks ago our sweet boy Hank started showing signs of pain in his rear left leg. We tried to see if maybe he was just playing too hard at the park with his friends. Hank loves to play hard and have a good time outside. Recently, it's gotten a lot worse and has resulted in him applying zero weight to that leg. Today we found out that he has ruptured his cranial cruciate ligament within his left knee. This is similar
to a human tearing their ACL. To repair the damage, Hank will need a fairly common procedure called a Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO). At this point, it's not quite an emergency but it could quickly become one if we wait too long. The longer he bears weight on his right leg, the more the chance increases that he could do the same thing to said leg. He is on Carprofen right now to help ease the pain and inflammation he's experiencing, and we're trying our best to keep him resting. It's hard to keep a young, active dog down for too long! We want our happy bouncy boy back, and to be able to take him on hikes again. He's one of the best trail dogs and enjoys every minute that he's able to be outside with his people. Hank isn't even 2 years old yet, so this is quite a bummer for his family who loves him. We didn't think we'd have to endure something like this so soon with him. Unfortunately, this surgery will cost right around $4,000 and we don't have the funds for it right now. This cost hit us pretty quickly and all we want is our happy dog back. Thank you all for your help!! We'll keep everyone updated as time goes on.
