Volunteer Teaching and Renovating Abroad
Donation protected
First off, thank you for visiting my page! I will be volunteering with International Volunteer Headquarters for a total of six months between October 2014 and June 2015.
The first leg of my journey will be in Kenya teaching music! For many cultures, music is an integral part of life, and Kenya is no exception to this rule. Music can help people communicate, conncect, ease pain, and elevate joy. The children I will be working with can certainly benefit from all of these effects. As a singer, I will be running a choir and general music program- melding classical western technique with traditional Kenyan music! This section of my volunteer time will run from October 15th and January 7th.
The second stage of my journey will take me to Sri Lanka to renovate temples! Religion is important to people all around the world, and there are few things as sad as the sight of a holy place fallen to shambles. I will be working with Buddhist monks and local villagers to restore, strengthen and renovate temples, giving people a place to worship and find peace. I will be in Sri Lanka from April 6th through June 29th, 2015.
If you wish to hear more about my projects, feel free to visit IVHQ's website at IVHQ Kenya or IVHQ Sri Lanka.
Please email me if you would like a breakdown of the costs included in my trips. It is my hope that this fundraiser will help me pay for my program costs, registration fees, visas and flights.
Also note that if you donate at the Traveler level or above, you will receive your gifts upon my return home- gifts from Kenya will likely arrive in February 2015, and gifts from Sri Lanka will likely arrive in July 2015.
