We are so close. So, so close. The new ADA bathrooms have been framed and wired. Doorways and halls have been widened to meet ADA requirements. More Air Conditioning has been added. Electrical has been updated. Plus other additions and renovations including a new cafe counter.

What’s left: The building still needs plumbing updates which require opening the foundation and replacing old cast iron with new lines as well as adding all new lines for the newly built bathrooms, Commercial Architectural fees and final plans, remaining permits and inspections, parking updates, as well as a handful of smaller renovations for code compliance (doors and directions, lighting, step ups and downs, and more.)

The venue has been closed since April 24th. With 3 months closed, we are running into month 4 of paying the rent, utilities, and bills, with $0 income. As well as the astronomical amount of time and money that has already been put into the upgrades.

2 months ago we ran a GFM that raised $18,750. That was an amazing amount of support, and I can’t even begin to explain how much it helped. It helped push us to here. The anniversary show, while it was an amazing time, costed thousands of dollars just to be able to have it due to our current restrictions, so ticket sales just covered being able to open and celebrate. Worth it, but didn’t help the build like we hoped it would.

We are swallowing pride and opening the door one last time for help. If we can raise these final funds, we will be able to finish the project, cover the bills from having months of no income, and open our doors once again when work and inspections are complete, which we hope to have done and be fully open before Summer is over.

As a reminder- I do not make an income from Hard Love. I work a full time day job to fund and support this endeavor. I’ve spent the last 18 months putting all of my time, energy, effort, money, heart, soul, and lots of blood, sweat, and tears into this because I genuinely believe it is needed, necessary, and worth it. I am not seeking help for personal gain. This isn’t for me. The sole purpose of Hard Love is to provide this space for the community to use. Once this is done and we are open again, you will see the block once again become active with shows, markets, art galleries, and whatever else you all can think to put inside these walls. With this final push, we can bring the spark of Hard Love back to our community.
