HHS Model UN NHSMUN Trip 2017

Over the past 15 years, the Haverhill High School Model United Nations Program has expanded in all directions. This includes attending the National High School Model United Nations Conference in New York City each year. In short, Model UN is a competition in which students depict a country and debate with other students about real world issues. The students are judged on their position paper, accuracy of potraying thier country and their country's views, and ability to come to a consensus between the other delegates in the room.
The NHSMUN conference is one unlike any other. This is the largest conference in the world, hosted in New York City. It includes staying in New York for three nights, participating in a committee session in the United Nations Hall, visiting an foreign embassy, and many more activities. Not only are students around the country in attendance but so are students from over 20 countries around the world. This program is unsurpassed in education and is an unique experience for every student who attends.
Unfortunately, along with this amazing experience comes an extremely high cost. The conference costs between 700 and 800 dollars per student. Not only that, over half of the members of the club are preparing for college costs either next fall or in the next 2 years. Our fundraising has and will include tagging, fundraising at local eateries, bake sales, and many other fundraisers. This year, in order to give more students the opportunity to go to NHSMUN we have planned two separate trips so unfortunately our costs have been doubled. Although we have done more fundraising than ever this year, most of our funding comes from the generosity of the community. Any amount you can give is appreciated.
Thank you,
