The Homeless Period Fund
Donation protected
Im Keely :) I'm mum to 3 year old Regan, Dental Student and member of The Albert St Project, we help the homeless and less fortunate people of Birmingham by giving food, clothes, other much needed items and a friendly face :)
Periods are not a great time of the month for any woman, but for homeless women with very limited access to the expensive 'luxury' of sanitary items, it really is such an awful and humiliating time, and because of the taboo nature of the topic it's one that doesn't often cross our mind. Some women are forced to use ripped up cloths or toilet roll from public toilets, or make a few tampons last the entire length of their period. This can lead to infections, and so it isn't just the emotional impact - it's also really dangerous! This is why we decided to begin The Homeless Period, to supply the women in our local community with the items they struggle to get hold of all the year around. If you would like to help, you can donate here, or drop/send sanitary items to:
The Chase Pub, Hagley Road, Rugeley, Staffs, WS15 2AW
The money and donations go towards creating our special period care packs, which each contain underwear, wipes, and a selection of sanitary products. As well as our weekly distributions with The Albert St Project, these packs will be going out to other homeless charities and projects over Birmingham and the midlands, to make a difference for as many women as possible who are in difficult circumstances, allowing their dignity and health to be maintained through their periods :)
On our previous JustGiving page, we raised an incredible £2,255! We are so incredibly grateful, thank you ever so much everybody.
We've switched over to Gofundme, so that the page won't expire! :)
