Lauren Bernard, Executive Director/President of the HeadStrong Brain Injury Foundation, with her mom, Kathy Dodgen. Kathy was in a tragic car wreck while she was on her way to work on a normal Wednesday morning in June, 2014. She endured two brain surgeries, wherein both sides of her skull were removed, and she remained in a vegetative state before ultimately passing 4.5 months following the accident.
Haley Culberston, Vice President of the Headstrong Brain Injury Foundation, with her mom, Elizabeth Carrillo. Elizabeth suffered from a rare brain tumor for a decade and then had emergency brain surgery once it was discovered. The months that followed her acquired brain injury were excruciatingly difficult, as they had to learn to navigate the medical world and help Elizabeth through an extremely difficult recovery, which was never fully realized before her passing.
