My name is Alyssa and I’m creating this page to support a fundraiser for my mother, Marty. In early June, she was diagnosed with Stage IV Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer. After the diagnosis, the first words she said to me were “I’m going to fight this, Lyss.” For anyone who knows my mother, you know she does not quit - I’d like to say she is relentless (in the nicest way!) The positive attitude she displays on a daily basis - through countless doctors appointments, treatments, surgeries - is something that cannot be touched.
For everyone who's been touched by Marty, you know how kind and generous she is with her time and talents, always going out of her way to help a friend in need. The perseverance and strength she displays on a daily basis is truly inspirational, all while maintaining the most positive attitude and outlook. She's a wonderful, caring sister, friend, role model and I consider myself so, so blessed to have her as my mother.
Everyday when I speak to my mom, I am constantly reminded by how much love and support she is receiving. I know that I speak for her (and myself) when I say that we could not be more grateful for our family and friends who are praying, offering help with anything and everything, and who are on her team fighting this battle every step of the way. I don’t think it would be possible to adequately express how much it means to have your support.
On October 26, 2017, the Hearts for Marty fundraiser will take place at Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford, CT. If you are in the area, we would love to see you there! If you are unable to attend but would still like to donate, please do so through this page - all donations from this page will be combined with the money raised from the event and given to Marty. Please reach out to me for additional details if you would like to attend/participate.
Our goal with Hearts for Marty is to gather donations to help ease the financial burden of medical care and expenses while she tackles the task at hand - kicking this cancer’s butt!
