Help 5 year old Jordyn Fight Cancer
Donation protected
Friends, Family and well-wishers,
On Dec 1st, our family received the most devastating news imaginable. My beautiful niece Jordyn, age five (5), was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and given a short-term life expectancy.
Doctors have explained that the tumor, known as Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), is a very rare and aggressive form of cancer typically found in children ages 5-9. Only 200-300 children in the United States each year are diagnosed with DIPG as they struggle to find a cure. This type of tumor is located at the base of the brain (brainstem) and the top of the spine. Over time, it will impact all of Jordyn’s essential bodily functions: heartbeat, breathing, swallowing, eyesight and balance.
My brother Mike, sister in law Joanna, their son Alex, age two (2), and our families are shattered by this diagnosis.
Doctors at The IWK Children’s Hospital in Halifax, NS have informed us that radiation treatments are the best we can do as we aim to keep Jordyn comfortable for her remaining time. We struggle to grasp what we are being told, and will exhaust every resource available in our fight.
With all of these efforts comes a financial burden that no family should have to worry about while desperately trying to save the life of their child.
Jordyn is the eldest of Mike and Joanna and shines bright amongst her brother and 5 cousins! Jordyn has spunk, sass and a fun personality. She likes to dance, ride her bike, fish, play silly games and is a practical joke enthusiast. In fact, it’s hard to find one picture where she isn’t making someone smile. She loves her grandparents and being with her family and friends. Losing Jordyn will leave a dimness in so many lives where light presently shines so bright.
Please help Mike, Joanna and Alex by sending your strongest and most positive vibes to Jordyn and our family. All donations are deeply appreciated and will allow us to do whatever needs to be done to give Jordyn a fighting chance in the limited time we have.
Thank you from the depth of my soul and bottom of my heart.
