Help Alex pay mom's burial expenses

Our twenty-three year old neighbor, Alex, was suddenly struck by tragedy Monday, Nov. 14 for the second time in his life. His mother was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident in Las Vegas. Ten years ago, at the tender age of 13, Alex's father passed away. Alex and his elderly disabled grandmother are the only surviving family members.

Unfortunately, their financial situation is quite dire. There is no money to pay funeral expenses, the house payment due December 1, or a $6,600 loan mom took out on Alex's car that comes due December 2.

Alex is a wonderful, respectful young man who is completely devoted to his grandmother. In no way would he shirk the responsibility of her care. He is understandably worried about what will become of them.

Alex is in his last 2 semesters of a graduate program in Geology and yet he is planning to drop out of college for at least a year to take care of his grandmother and try to stabilize their financial situation.

There is an urgent need to raise $16,650.00 to be used to pay for funeral expenses, the December house payment and the loan against Alex's car. This hardworking, family-oriented young man is someone so deserving of help from our community. I urge you to do what you can to support him. It will mean everything to us to know we were able to motivate others to come to his aid. If you are unable to help financially, please keep Alex and his grandmother in your thoughts and prayers. They need that too.
