Help Brain Injured Artist Succeed!

Donation protected
My name is Kris Haas and I am an artist with a Brain Injury Disability here asking for money for special equipment I need for a new body of work I want to start very, very soon.

But before I get to the details of that I want to tell you a little bit about what brought me here.

First off. I had an accident over thirteen years ago that caused me to have a TBI or what I just like to call a Brain Injury . It has had lasting effects on me that have made certain aspects of my life very difficult but I have come a long way since when I first had it.

Over the years I lost the ex, the job, the house, and the apartment after that. I lost the life I had and was even homeless for a time, living out of a couple women's shelters, which is the last place someone with a Brain Injury like mine, that can't filter out stimuli, should be.

I lost everything and now I am starting over and you all get to help me do this!

But through it all, I managed to stick to doing the one thing I could do and do well and that is to create. And create a lot of work I have done! Over 16,000 pieces, but whose counting?!

Here is a very small sample of some of my art work other then drawings over the years :

Since the shelter I was fortunate to have been in had an agency help me with housing, I am now finally stable with that once again. But it is no where big enough to have a studio space to paint in, but like I always have a tendency to do, I figure things out and make it work.

Then in February I had this wonderful idea for a new body of work that was going to incorporate a mixture of what I use to do so well in the past and that was drawing. I had this idea, almost a vision in my mind as if it was a sculpture of seeing the backside of a basketball players hands with the skin of the basketball as the skin of the hands from the point of view of the player that is going to shoot the ball. This was the first time I had ever seen a completed piece in my mind. So I knew I had to do it!

Since I had learned that my nephew had recently moved back to the Portland area and him being a Portland Trailblazer fan I thought how appropriate to use his hands as the prototype drawing before I actually approach the real NBA players before they start the season sometime in late summer with the best kick ass drawing that will make them say "heck yah, I want to have my hands be part of your series of new work and I hope they sell well for you to help you finally get you on your feet financially to get you to support yourself for the first time since your accident!!"

So that is what I am wanting to happen.  To create a new bodies of work that will be very, very marketable and help me to become self-sufficient once again, despite having a Brain Injury Disability!

So I have already traced Chad's (my nephew's) hands, photographed them from the point of the shooter and photographed the basketball and done all the photoshopping necessary for the black and white contrast look that I am going for now all I need is your donations for the equipment to gel it all together. Cause if I don't have the laser projector, stand, paper or pens then I can't make this happen!

Here are some samples of some recent ink drawings I am been working on.  The new drawings will be a bit different because the drawing of the basketball and other sports balls will exist inside the drawings of the hands only!
