Help Courtney Afford Lupus
Donation protected
Here's the story...
I've had lupus since I was five years old (I'm 36) and while it affects my lungs and joints, it stays fairly well managed thanks to a very strict medical + personal routine and a good doctor.
After a series of unpleasant and abrupt changes in my personal life (sudden deaths, sudden loss of income, bad living situation with an incompatible roommate) I admitted defeat in living in Chicago (rent there is absurd!) and moved back to Michigan (where I'm from) to save money and I need some help getting back on top of things.
The good news is my need is temporary. I have a great job that I recently started and I was able to buy a Marketplace health insurance plan because I relocated. The problem? My medical need schedule hasn't yet aligned with my pay schedule, and my insurance plan doesn't go into effect until 8/1/2019 and I've got about a week of meds left.
Donations would go toward paying for my doctor and a month of meds out of pocket until I get my first paycheck and my insurance kicks in and any help would be deeply appreciated!
Some non-lupusy things about me:
I'm an MFA candidate working on my first novel as my thesis project and I founded and run a video game accessibility info and review site called Can I Play That? Basically, I'm a big, big nerd and I shout about accessibility a lot on Twitter.
