Dear Friends & Family!
My name is Diana Becker from Hoedspruit (South Africa)
Today just under two months ago I have finally found my Biological Father after 35yrs who has been living in the UK for the last 20years.
My story is a bit like the ever so annoying movie “Mamma Mia” – okay I actually really liked the movie, but it has brought me to tears every time I’ve watched it because it hit home!
I was born on the 3rd March 1983. 15months later due to unforeseen circumstances my Biological mother had to give me up for adoption. I have been blessed with THE best adoptive Family any child could have asked for. I grew up in a very loving and caring home along with ma & pa & my older brother. My parents have given me everything anyone could ever dream of, anything I deserved (within reason off course haha). They have also not kept the fact from me that I have been adopted by them.(I love them very much). In my teenage years this started haunting me. I’m a very curious person and could not let the fact go that somewhere in our Universe are a man and a woman who are truly blood related. By the help of my folks and the social workers I located my Biological mom just a few weeks before my 18th Birthday – I was ecstatic. We met, we laughed we cried and shared our lives with one another, I was lucky that she actually lived in the same City as what I was. Unfortunately this is where the story becomes a bit like the movie mentioned earlier. I was introduced to a wonderful man whom I still treasure and keep contact with and was under the impression that he was my Biological dad. After a paternity test 16 years ago we learnt that he was not related. This didn’t stop our friendship. It is during this time that I have learnt that there was one other whom they have thought to be my dad. I never knew his name, nor did I know where he was and I didn’t ask questions. About two and a half years ago while in conversation with my Biological mom the subject came up and I heard his name for the first time! The news of his passing also followed. The fact that I realized that I will never meet him drove me crazy. I HAD to at least find a photo, read his obituary – anything for closure. During my hours of google searches his name finally came up, but there were no pics, nothing to go on. Eventually I found out that he was alive and living somewhere in the UK. I diverted my attention to facebook, but could not find him and I gave up. In May this year after watching a movie on TV about a man who found his biological parents after years gave me a boost. It motivated me to try a search one last time – AND THERE HE WAS. A closed profile on facebook with 1 photo ! – The only thing I could see was one pic. I drank two glasses of wine and eventually had the courage to write him a message on FB – For weeks I checked 4 to 5 times a day if the message had delivered – NO luck. To cut a long story short, after messaging numerous of his friends on Facebook hoping to find a email address or contact detail, finally – on the 24th July 2018 – Breakthrough. I got his email address and that very same night we started corresponding. It was truly a blessed moment. We immediately decided to do paternity tests and spoke on the whatsapp chats almost every single day while waiting for the results. I have not experienced such stress in a long time! Eventually 2 weeks ago the results proved that we were Father & Daughter. Better than winning the lotto.
I would like for you to assist me in covering my costs to get to the United Kingdom from South Africa for a surprise visit to finally meet him.
