Disabled Veteran Losing Home
Donation protected
My Brother in Georgia is losing his home. He served in the US Army and was deployed in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. As a result of injuries sustained as a gunner in a Bradley Fighting Vehicle, he underwent several years of painful facial and knee surgeries and rehabilitation. Due to this and several other issues relating to his military service he was left with a small disability pension to help him live on.
Jason carried on with his life, became a welder and several years ago bought a house near my Mom.He thought this would be a good idea just in case anything happened and Mom and my Stepfather Brock needed any help. My Mom and Brock had been married for over thirty years and Loved each other very much. They were inseparable and the Light of one another's life.
As it turned out,Jasons' move was fortunate because a year after he bought his house,Mom woke one morning to find that her Beloved Husband Brock had passed away in his sleep. This was an emotional shock to us all not only because it was very unexpected but because of who Brock was as a person. The best way I can explain this is to say that Brock was one of the good guys. He was a decent and compassionate man. He was a Good Man and we will all miss him.
After Brock passed away,Mom couldn't afford to keep the house they were living in so we packed up their big house full of their memories of the time they had together, and moved Mom and everything they owned into Jasons' house.
As I said, Jason buying his house turned out to be a good thing because it allowed Mom to have somewhere to go and it allowed she and Jason to spend time together during what turned out to be the final year of Moms' life.
The day before Thanksgiving 2017 Jason went to wake Mom up and found that she had passed away in the night. This was particularly hard on Jason,he was her youngest child and they were very close.
In this year we also lost our younger
Sister as well as our Grandma.
Through all this Jason was calm and steady and pretty much sheparded the rest of us through doing what had to be done when these things happen
We had no idea of the battle he was fighting in his own mind. Unbeknownst to the rest of us he had ,years before, been diagnosed with Severe PTSD as a result of his battlefield experiences. In recent years he was diagnosed with Depression as well. Dealing with all this on top of a back injury sustained in an accident at work, caused him to not be able perform his job as a welder.
All this almost broke my Brother down. He is working his way back. I am very thankful for this. Unfortunately through all this he fell behind on his mortgage. It is now to the point of foreclosure.
In talking with my Brother about all of this I have come to realize that he has no interest in keeping the house. Our Mom died in the front bedroom. He was the one who found her. Emotionally he doesn't want to live in the house anymore. He doesn't even want to be there.
As we all strive to build a decent life for ourselves, some of us are presented with obstacles that we struggle to overcome. My Brother Jason has been a source of strength and calm through recent years of our family losing several immediate family members in a very short time. It would make me feel wonderful to help him out in his time of need. Unfortunately,I do not have the means to do so.
His house is being auctioned off Oct 15 2018. I am trying to raise funds to allow him to purchase and outfit a step-van for he and his dog Cholo to live in. He has decided that this is an option in part by observing my life as I have lived in my van for over two years now.

My Brother Jason is an all around great guy. I would love to be able help him begin this stage of his journey through life. Any help you can give to achieve this goal will have a profound impact. Thank You for your time reading this and many Thanks for any help you give. Rob Grubbs
