Update: she has to go back to her mom’s on the normal schedule for now. I was quoted at 5k minimum to move forward. I got a letter from the state saying that her mother is going to go threw a driver evaluation exam and a medical evaluation for wether or not she should keep her license. Thank you so much to the people who have helped out so far,  we would not of been able to have the level of success we’ve had so far without it.

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read this. My family consists of Evelyn, Amber, and me, Nick. We do our best to get by, and we usually manage just fine. We are happy together, we do activities, we do arts and craft stuff, we do it all together. However, we currently have a serious problem facing us.

Evelyn spends three days a week at her mother's apartment, in an abusive household. She has come to Amber and myself and detailed emotional, mental, and verbal abuse that she is subject to there. She is constantly yelled at, belittled, called names, and being stuck sitting with nothing to do as her mother does not engage with her often. Evelyn is also very afraid of her mother's boyfriend, and she recently came home telling us that she heard him hitting her mother.

Her mother also has been diagnosed with a serious and life altering illness called Huntington's disease. The disease effects a person completely, but it starts with large personality changes and it heavily effects motor skills while also causing muscle spasms. Due to the muscle spasms, people with this disease lose their licenses fast if they are honest with health care professionals, which she is not. Whether due to the Huntington's disease or just poor driving ability, she has had Evelyn in the car for seven car accidents within the last two years. One accident she got caught for doing a hit and run. Another accident totaled her car, caused her a serious injury, and left Evelyn terrified to continue driving with her mother.

I recently sat down with her mother and tried to take care of this in a manner that would benefit Evelyn the most. She needs to be home with us, happy, safe, and never abused in any way.

Today I refused her mother's attempt to take Evelyn.

This puts me at the mercy of the court if they decide that her mother is a fit parent. For this process to be successful, we need to be able to pay for a lawyer for Evelyn. We ask that you please help support getting Evelyn home safe, and away from an abusive environment.

We know things are hard on everyone right now, and it makes it hard to ask something like this, but our backs are against the wall. We're scared, and we need help.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
