Flood Relief Report/update

Dear prospect donors and well-wishers,

MAA would like to thank you to all donors and well-wishers who have shown generosity in helping the flood victim people of Nepal

MAA is pleased to share our activities, progress and future plan for the August 2017 flood campaign. In this update you will find how funds were utilized, relief provided and the location covered.

We have proactively reached out to several organizations here in US and in Nepal to collaborate and achieve our common goal.
MAA is the first organization to reached at ground zero of Saptari, Kusaha, Banarjhulla and have distributed very first even faster than government relief packages to the victim families. The relief distribution was totally hand-to-hand relief distribution with no middleman, hence saved several costs.

Summary

Our MAA team is still working in different flood affected area and we have multiple teams on ground and they are ready to take more responsibility. We will keep you posted on our other location covered.

We are planning for medical relief camp for the people who are affected by the flood.
There are several affected areas need immediate attention mostly to new born babies, pregnant women, children and old age people.

Following are highlights of our work (on-going)

1. Rautahat

we sent $3,400, which includes Ridgewood Nepalese Society- NY (RNS) matching fund.
The local partner Rural Development Center (RDC) assisted in distributing the relief to 250 families staring 08/17/207 thru 08/23/2017. There were 7lot of relief distribution in Rautahat’s villages (Barhadwa, Laukhaua, Mudalwa VDC, Hajminiya Pathai Tole and Barhwa Badha).

2. Saptari

we sent $2,200 for the Sapatri flood victim, it is one of the badly affected area.
In Sapatri, the relief was distributed based on our resources available and the severity of the flood on 08/16/2017
the number of packages distributed varied from one village to the other. We modified the packages so we could serve as many victims possible. For example few victims received package that costs NPR 800 to NPR 1200 whereas others received from NPR 800 to NPR 650.

3. Dhanusha, Mohatari

we sent $700 for the Mohatrai flood victim to help 256 families on 08/19/2017. In Mohattari, we collaborated with other local organization (SRMIT College) who helped the victims. Together with them we created synergy and we were able to distributed relief to maximum families as possible.
