Justice For Stephanie Washington
Donation protected
On April 16, 2019, Stephanie Washington was shot multiple times by police in New Haven, Connecticut. This horrific incident involved police from the Town of Hamden and Yale University. The police shot Stephanie multiple times without justification or cause, shattering her pelvis, breaking her vertebrae, perforating her colon, and causing nerve damage. The Yale Police Officer was not prosecuted and the Hamden Police Officer received only probation.
Stephanie Washington required invasive surgery to help repair significant injuries caused by the police officers' bullets. Due to the shooting, Stephanie Washington also lost her independence and her car which was shot up and is still impounded as evidence. From the time that the shooting happened, everything Stephanie Washington worked for, everything she created within herself, her confidence, her independence, and many other things were stolen from her.
Before the shooting, Stephanie was a self-sufficient, hard-working young woman full of energy and vitality. Since the shooting, Stephanie needed invasive surgery and now is left with the scarring and horror that she lives with every day. We hope you will consider sharing this GoFundMe and maybe even donating to help support Stephanie until the City of Hamden and Yale University take responsibility for their police officers’ conduct and compensate Stephanie for their role in this unjustified shooting.
