Fran Marion is one of the leading voices for "Stand Up Kansas City," a group of fast food workers fighting for a $15 an hour minimum wage in the U.S. She has been employed in the fast food industry for 22 years, and despite working six days a week, Fran is still unable to afford a home for her and her two children. She is currently sleeping on a friend's couch, while her two daughters stay at another friend's house an hour away.
Fran is now working at a short-staffed Popeyes where, during one recent shift, she processed nearly 200 orders. This grossed about $950 for the company, but Fran only went home with $76.
Despite working tirelessly to pay her bills and feed herself and her two daughters, Fran is also a relentless advocate for Stand Up Kansas City. She continues fighting to earn fair wages for the 64 million workers across America making less than $15 an hour. While the CEOs of these companies make millions of dollars a year, the workers doing the real labor live in poverty as economic slaves.
By raising money to help Fran afford a home for her and her kids, we can help lift her burden while she works both at her job, and at fighting for the rights of all hard-working laborers in America.
