Help have a permanent home

In 1974 I married  the love of my life  we were young and believed we had every opportunity. Ray was just out of the army. And I had just finished nursing school.   We saved and worked hard and bought our first house. It was a cute 3 bedroom then over the next 3 years we went on to have a son and a daughter and put our heart and soul into tuning our home into our dream house. Then came along a very unscrupulous real estate agent. We were young and he made us believe we could sell our little dream and buy another house  in a more upscale neighborhood and with our home improvement skills we could have an even better dream home. He showed us a home in a very nice neighborhood and then proceeded to lie about the condition of the house .  We trusted
him and agreed to an offer. Less than 20 min away from him  we sat down and started to look at the potential morgage payment and decided we were not ready for such a move.  When we called him just a couple of hours later and told him we had changed our mind he threatened that we would be liable for thousands of dollars if we backed out of the offer and that we had no choice but to sell our home and go ahead with the deal. To make a long story we went ahead with the move only to discover that the fixer upper that we thought only needed a little bit of work had holes in the roof and major repairs needed. At the same time my husband who was trying to become a police officer found out he has asbestosis and not only could not become a police officer but also needed to leave the job he was at as that was the source of the asbestos. We tried for 3 years to keep our heads above water but  then our friendly real estate agent resurfaced with  a lien on the property in his name that he was calling due (we learned that there were 3 different sets of paperwork and he had been caught doing fraudulent fillings). He lost his license and we lost our home.  Since then we have lived in 3 rental homes, each time we have had to move it has been because the owner either wanted to move back in themselves or wanted to move family in. And each time the cost  has jumped up significantly .  Our current rent is nearly 6 x our original house payment. And our income has only increased about 4 times what it was then. Plus the heart break of losing friends in each of the neighborhoods has been a challenge.  All we really want is a permanent place where we don’t have to sit and wait for the hammer to drop again. We are looking to purchase a used mobile home in a seniors park nearby. Please help us achieve our dream of a less stressful senior years.
