Help Jose's Family Put Him to Rest

Jose Montero passed away on December 6, 2017. He was 19 years old, two weeks before his 20th birthday. Jose often said he wanted to work with youth to keep them out of the streets so they avoided the pitfalls, pain and hardships that would ultimately take his life. He became Boston's 50th homicide of 2017. Jose was watching a basketball game at a local community center with other teenagers when he was fatally shot. In his personal life, and in the community organization he was a part of, he helped his family, his friends and his community. He gave his heart to everything he did and to all of us who had the chance to love him. Now I'm asking that you give a little back.
Jose's family, like many others from his community, are in the impossible position of choosing whether to give their son a proper burial or paying for the essentials, let alone Christmas gifts for his younger siblings who have to endure this trauma during the holidays. I am asking you to help me raise $10K to help his family in this time and to relieve yet another major stressor in their lives. Jose deserves to be remembered in a way that reflects his contribution to this world. Simply put, I appreciate your sorrow, your thoughts, and your prayers, but what his family needs are the resources to bury their son. Thank you.
