Help Kensie Kick Cancer!
Donation protected
On the evening of Saturday, August 4, Josh & I took Kensie, our 2 year old, to Dayton Children's Emergency Department. She had been uncharacteristically cranky & complaining that her ankle hurt. We thought perhaps it had been injured, & wanted to make sure it was not broken. On the way to the hospital, we discussed whether it was really necessary to take her in, when they would surely just send us home encouraging us to let her rest & put ice on it.
Instead, we were told the words were never expected: "It appears your daughter has leukemia." We were immediately moved to the oncology floor at Children's, & where we started down an unfamiliar & terrifying path of having a child with cancer.
Kensie will be spending the next 6 months receiving treatment/chemo & we expect to have many unplanned hospital stays due to the complications.
We decided to make a GoFundMe page as a way for people far from home, that cannot make meals or watch our kids to help during this difficult season in our life. This money will be used for gas, bills, & a supplement during times that Josh & I have to miss work. Because the majority of her hospital stays will be in an emergency situation, we realize that we will not be able to plan for everything. As a result, we see that having a buffer so that we can focus on what is important - Kensie & our other kids - will be beneficial part of supporting our family during this time.
