Help Lauren on her Healing Journey

Lauren Pine is an advocate for social good, a badass,  a dear friend,
 a healer, and anall-around amazing human. As a nurse, she has contributed
to her community in countless ways, gently guiding her patients toward better
health and improved quality of life.

In November 2017, Lauren was hit and run over by a dump truck.
The injuries she sustained were significant: notwithstanding the life-saving
trauma care she received at Bellevue and New York Presbyterian Hospital,
Lauren lost her leg at the hip joint; her pelvis was irreparably fractured ;
and she endured extensiveskin-grafting surgeries in the aftermath.
As a result, day-to-day living in NYC—physically, logistically, financially—
with a mountain of outstanding hospital bills and being unable to go back to work
 presents a considerable challenge.

After two months in a burn unit ICU and a year of physical and
occupational therapy, Lauren has returned to her apartment. She has
still not met all the medical expenses associated with the accident:
not all was covered by her (excellent) health insurance, nor was
restitution from the trucking company even marginally sufficient
(contrary to what one might think).

We are writing to ask you to join us in extending support to Lauren on
her own healing journey, as a small gesture of appreciation for all
the care she has brought to others in her lifetime. Lauren will
continue to face physical and emotional barriers in the months ahead,
and we wish her freedom from financial worry so that she can focus on
the tasks of healing and redefining her place in her community
following these devastating injuries. All the contributions from this
campaign will go directly to Lauren (exclusive of GoFundMe's fees).

This Spring we are also planning a fundraising event for Lauren in
NYC! (More details to come.) In the meantime, as a friend, family
