Lightning shattered his teeth!

Donation protected

My friend, Alexander Williamson, is a great person -- he is recently married, consistently kind and giving, a wonderful artist, and a lover of nature. These days, he is really into breeding ornamental shrimp, which is just the latest of his many delightful interests.

On Monday, Alexander was struck by lightning, and all the fillings in his mouth blew up, shattering his teeth. He needs financial assistance to see a dentist and fix the broken teeth.

Here is Alexander's story as he told it on Facebook:

"On Monday June 25th, 2018 at this exact time of night-

I nearly died. I was struck by lightning.

Seemingly struck out of the blue, there was rain but no visible lightning or audible thunder. Just warm midnight air and heavy rain, which I had leaned out and on our 3rd floor railing to take in. Then White light, and a terrifying buzzing and crackling seemingly overtaking my senses from the inside out, and culminating in tossing me at least 6 feet backwards and onto the floor, and into a life altering state of shock, which is still with me as I write this.

This is far more serious than the usual "Haha that's something that would only happen to Alex. It's like he is jinxed and always ends up being at some crazy place or catching some rare medical condition." situations.

I felt that I needed to share this, very sensitive story and info with everyone en-mass on Facebook for these basic reasons;

I don't feel normal emotionally or mentally, my memory is jostled and of course... I want to express how precious life, love and the beauty of the natural world are. Please pardon any mental delay, confusion in behavior or memory in the coming days. I love my Wife and parents beyond words.

Thank you for your support, especially since this occurred and specifically, because it occurred while i was already dealing with autoimmune issues: lupus, allergies, herniated discs and basically just extremely painful, and difficult chronic illness.

They are my heroes and Laura is my savior and the love of my life.

I have been toss and turning in my head, whether or not to share this information with everyone or not. The fact that I feel timid about it, or almost like I am compelled to keep this a secret between nature my creator and myself. It is a sense of relied, guilt and deja vu all at the same time, which is extremely odd coming from someone like myself who usually has no problem sharing my life's path, be it weakness or proud accomplishments.

Physically It looks as though I will be okay.

As far as Physical destruction, I was extremely fortunate, all things considered. The Strike tossed me 7 or 8 feet from the porch, through the patio doors and into our living room onto the floor. initially I could not see at all except for blinding white light and a feeling as though my entire body had fallen asleep and was waking up to the most intense sense of pins and needles that I have ever experienced.

Laura Severance [William's wife] heard the loud crash and me yell (i vaugly don't rember much from those few minutes other than an extreme buzzing feeling, an odd headache, and mental confusion almost out of body or dream-like.

The path must have traveled from my mouth or head and out the back of my leg, where i had my pants melted into my flesh and have these odd radial burns and splits in my skin. Lastly, I have some extensive dental damage to my already, expensive, existing temps, root canals, crowns and fillings.

It appears that 3 or 4 of my teeth exploded and cracked from the inside out on all my teeth which were in the process of receiving or needing dental work. It was crowns or root canal temp fillings, which i had put on hold due to maxing out my dental insurance and side savings earlier this year on medical and dental bills)

The fillings or pieces of teeth seemed to disappear or perhaps were knocked far away as the strike tossed my body backwards onto the floor. Even as the medics cleared me but offered a ride to the hospital, I just had a confused and familiar feeling mental composure, as though it was all destined. I had a BP of 190 over 109 when the medics arrived, and was shaking, sweating and clearly in shock, but after 10 or 15 minutes it returned to normal as did my pulse.

So shattering pieces of my teeth and damaging the surrounding area in my mouth seems to be the worst of it, in that I already maxed out our dental insurance and doing root canals/crowns or just a partial removal of the 6 or so teeth impacted will likely be well over $5,000...oi ...we need a better dental system in this country, but that discussion is for another time.

I think I was fortunate and merely was in the path of it hitting a tree then leaping to our house, me, the railing and into the ground. I was on the porch around 12:30 or 1am, Sunday evening or I suppose Monday morning technically."

Isn't that incredible and scary?

Here is where the lightning left Alexander's body via his leg:

This exit wound required stitches (edited to add -- no, these are not stitches; this is where the fabric of Alexander's pants melted into his leg!):

Here is the hole the lightning burned in his pants:

Here's where the strike burned and damaged his porch:

But back to Alexander's teeth:

The dental work will probably cost Alexander at least $5,000, and in the meantime, his mouth is a mess of broken and painful teeth.

Please help ASAP!

If we all chip in, we can make his recovery from this bizarre and (quite literally) shocking event go more smoothly.
