Help Lindsay Phillips attend Juilliard for Dance

Would you like to help prove dreams really do come true? Please help fund Lindsay’s dream to attend The Juilliard School of Dance located in New York City for the next 4 years.

In early March, Lindsay Phillips, a dancer from Andrews, SC auditioned at Juilliard in NYC. In late March, she received her acceptance via phone call while riding on a bus to a dance festival with her high school. When she called to tell us, she was so happy and overwhelmed that she could hardly talk. She is 1 of 24 dancers and 1 of 12 young women accepted worldwide into the Juilliard dance class of 2023. She plans to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance.

Lindsay’s Dance Journey
Lindsay, age 18, loves to dance. It is her PASSION! She started dancing at age 6. After dancing at 3 local studios, her Mom spontaneously stopped at a ballet studio located 1-1/2 hours away from home to inquire about their dance program. That same evening, at age 13, Lindsay took her first pre-professional ballet class and put her hair in a bun for the first time. For the next 2 years, 4 days per week, Lindsay rode 3 hours round-trip to take dance classes. She spent many evenings doing homework in the car. She became very serious about dance and started dancing en pointe. Though it was challenging, Lindsay was very determined and progressed rapidly.
At age 15, as a rising Sophomore, Lindsay heard about the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, a residential public high school located 4 hours away from home. This school had everything she needed, academics and dance training all in the same location. She auditioned and soon received her acceptance letter. We never expected our daughter to leave home at age 15 but this was the best option. It’s like she left for college 3 years early. At SCGSAH, she danced 6 days a week, providing her the studio time that she needed and desired to become a better dancer.
For the past 3 years, Lindsay has independently and responsibly balanced challenging academics with intensive dance training. Academically, she has a GPA of 3.95 on a scale of 4.0. She’s been blessed to dance lead roles in school performances, attend Youth America Grand Prix Finals in New York, and receive a full-tuition scholarship to her first summer intensive at The HARID Conservatory. She graduated high school on May 24th.
SCGSAH Facebook Post about Lindsay's Acceptance to Juilliard

The Dream
Acceptance to Juilliard has always been a lifelong dream for Lindsay. She said, “I feel extremely honored, excited, and blessed to be accepted to Juilliard. All the hard work and sacrifices have paid off. I’m so thankful and humbled by what the Lord is doing in my life.”

Cost of Attendance
Though accepted in late March, Lindsay did not commit to attend Juilliard until late April due to concerns about the cost of attendance. Juilliard is very expensive. The “Estimated Cost of Attendance” over the next 4 years averages $76,552 per year. While ecstatic and honored to be accepted to such a prestigious school, the reality is Lindsay must find a way to pay for it. Fortunately, Juilliard has granted her a scholarship based on financial need and artistic merit which will cover a significant portion of tuition. However, the remaining costs total approximately $160,000 over the next 4 years.
Below are the estimated costs for the upcoming school year:

Parents Perspective
We’re extremely proud of Lindsay, not just for her dance ability but because of the young woman she has become. The years have flown by so quickly. She has so many exceptional qualities and talents. She is loving, humble, compassionate and kind. We wish all of you could meet her.
She has worked extremely hard to get to where she is today. Her acceptance into this exclusive program validates her dance talent and is a tremendous accomplishment. We are very grateful she has this amazing opportunity. It is somewhat surreal that our little girl from rural South Carolina has carved a path all the way to the big city of New York.
GoFundMe
This fundraiser is created by Lindsay’s Parents (Rodger & Brooke Phillips). All funds will be paid directly to Lindsay, the Beneficiary, to cover the costs of attending Juilliard during the next 4 years.
We respectfully ask for your support! Though we don't currently know where all the funds will eventually come from, we believe Lindsay should pursue this once in a lifetime opportunity to attend Juilliard.
Many people have said “She has to go to Juilliard...it’ll work out somehow." We're faithfully optimistic it will.
It is not our nature to ask others for help, but with the encouragement of others, we’ve decided to give everyone a chance to contribute and help prove Lindsay’s dream really can come true.
There is power in numbers and if everyone contributes something, the dollars will add up. We’d like to say “Thank You” in advance and that we’re extremely grateful for each donation and your willingness to contribute. May God bless all of you that decide to support Lindsay!
