Help me finish the 7 Summits
Donation protected
This GoFundMe is to raise money to help me complete climbing the 7 Summits both the Messner and Bass list(s) and hopefully become the first Combat Wounded Veteran to complete the 7 Summits.
So far, I have successfully reached the summit of Mt. Elbrus, Europe (2014), Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa (2017), Mt. Everest, Asia (2017) and Mt. Aconcagua, South America (2018).
You read that right, on May 22nd, 2017 @ 0825 I had reached the summit of Mt. Everest via the North Route becoming (unofficially) the 3rd Purple Heart Recipient to achieve the feat. I had previously attempted the climb in 2015 via the South Route, until tragedy struck on April 25th ending my expedition. A 7.8 magnitude earthquake rocked the country of Nepal. I happened to have just made my way down through the Khumbu Icefall when it hit. (I have my own helmet camera footage on Youtube of the avalanche rocketing through Everest Base Camp and making its way towards myself and my climbing partner). Sadly, 19 people died at camp and almost 10,000 throughout Nepal.
As of January 30, 2018 I have 3 more to go and they are Mt. Vinson (Antarctica) approx. $34-50k, Mt. Denali (North America) approx. $6.5-8k and Puncak Jaya/Carstensz Pyramid (Paid for). All prices are approximate and dependent on the guide services.
A little about myself:
I enlisted in the US Army Reserves in 2002 after I graduated highschool, as an Operating Room Specialist and was assigned to the 452nd Combat Support Hospital (CSH) out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In July 2005, I decided to go Active Duty and was assigned to Alpha Co., Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Upon arrival, I volunteered for deployment to Iraq in part of Operation Iraqi Freedom (2005-2006) with the 10th CSH out of Fort Carson, Colorado.
In 2007, I took part in a two-week Humanitarian Aid Mission to Tegucigalpa, Honduras and once I returned stateside I decided to re-class my Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) to a Cavalry Scout and was assigned to 5th Brigade 2nd Infantry Division Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT) 8th Squadron 1st Cavalry Regiment.
In July 2009, I deployed to Afghanistan in part of Operation Enduring Freedom and on September 13, 2009 while on a mission my vehicle hit a pressure plate improvised explosive device (IED) causing traumatic and life-threatening injuries. I was diagnosed with a concussion, perforated ear drum, L5/S1 vertebrae fractures, pelvic fracture, left and right femur fractures, partially severed lower right extremity (which was saved through limb salvage) and mild traumatic brain injury (TBI).
I was medically retired from the military in August of 2013.
My decorations include: The Military Order of the Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal (3rd award), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (4th award), Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd award), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (Campaign Star), Iraq Campaign Medal (Two Campaign Stars), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd award), NATO Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, Expert Marksmanship Badge and the Army Drivers/Mechanic Badge.
