Help me get new prius HV battery
Don protégé
My Prius Battery is pretty much at the end of its useful life. After saving for a long time I bought this car used (salvage title) with about 129k on the odometer. Little did I know that three owners ago the odometer display went out and they swapped it. Came to find out in Feb '14 the car had 140k miles in Aug when it was sold at auction 103k miles a difference of 36300 miles plus whatever was driven between feb and aug. and that was all my savings as a disabled individual that went into this car. I kinda got gypped, but the older couple that sold it to me didn't know about it. Well I have spent over a 1500 dollars buying ebay modules and equipment to keep this running for the last 2 1/2 yrs. Back then buying a new one from toyota cost 3200 dollars. Way out of my budget and well at the time you still had a decent chance of getting decent used modules.
If I can raise the money now there will be several benefits my mpg will go from lower 30's to mid to upper 40's. So that's good for the environment and my budget, living on a fixed income. Will keep this prius running for years to come most other issues can be solved by a trip to the junk yard or going on ebay. The price an HV battery from toyota has dropped to $1640 plus tax i. e. $1758 and thanks to me constantly having to work on my battery I have a core in my apartment so I can avoid the core charge and taxes :- ) and I can install it myself safely. So help me stay mobile, save gas and reduce my carbon footprint. ;- ). Honestly any day now I am fearing the Dreaded Big Red Triangle of Death on my Dashboard this is the main reason I'm starting this campaign now.
