My very dear friend, Patricia Coleman, needs help. Some may know her as an artist, an educator, a poet and storyteller, or as an arts and wellness educator. I know her as someone who has always been there for me when I needed a friend. She is genuinely beautiful inside and out.
Patricia needs help .....
and she needs it as soon as possible.
Patricia has been living with extreme environmental allergies for over twenty-five years. She has a severe form of Solar Urticaria, a type of edema that causes swelling throughout her body. This alone is a serious health problem but it has been compounded by multiple chemical/fragrance sensitivities or MCS. In recent years, Patricia has hidden the severity of her allergies by stepping further and further away from many community and social activities. This means that when you have seen her, it has been on one of her good days when her symptoms are not full blown. Having an allergy to sunlight, mold and environmental chemicals has been challenging on many levels, and these allergies have made it impossible to have an orderly life in which one can count on the ability to make even basic plans. As time passes, the symptoms associated with Solar Urticaria have been worsening, as has the severity of her allergy reactions related to the MCS. Right now Patricia is finding herself sidelined even after some very low-key activities.
It is critical that Patricia move to a new living environment that will allow her body, which is now in hypersensitive mode, to recover and heal as much as possible. Patricia has been researching alternative, sustainable and affordable housing for as long as I have known her (about 28 years). She has land to build on, and she has found a home solution that will improve her health and wellness, that is low-cost compared to most housing solutions. The solution would be to live in a cellular concrete dome home. Concrete is a material that will not inflame her condition.
The cellular concrete dome building method is sustainable, low cost, energy efficient, does not mold and is also beautiful. (As a side note, Aircrete is the commercial name most people know for this material). Patricia plans to share this building process with other people interested in effective, efficient and reasonable cost housing and efficient housing solutions for individuals and communities.
We are raising funds to host a build for Patricia and we estimate the costs for everything to come in around $54,000.
We are hoping to start this build by August 2019.
This build will happen in a workshop format. We will bring in educator-builders and welcome participants interested in learning how to create homes with this this healthy, sustainable and cost efficient building system. However, because of her health condition, Patricia will not be able to participate in the exterior building. and another person will participate on her behalf to ensure that the community retains the building information.
Patricia has set up a Blog about the building project, and it is located here at https://aircretebuilds.blogspot.com/ .
Patricia needs to follow medical advice and live in an environment that will allow her to heal. She really needs that to happen as quickly as possible. She does not have enough funds to do this on her own and if you can give some funds to help out it will be greatly appreciated. We ask for your generosity, prayers and good wishes.
Any amount of gift you are able to extend to this home building project will be appreciated full heartedly.
Here is my dream vision for Patricia:
Many Many Thanks.
